It started on a dark stormy night. The wind
was howling. Lightning and thunder crashed. "IT'S ALIVE!" yelled Chris. John turned to him and said with a calm creepy voice,
"We have created something special, let us only hope it will obey us and not DESTROY CIVILIZATION AS WE KNOW IT!"
Ok
so that really didn't happen but it's fun to pretend sometimes. CJParty was officially established in 2002. It's creators
being Chris Badgerow and John Parkinson. DUH!
What most people don't realize about cjparty.com is that at one time
it did not exist. (The Dark Age). A couple of years before cjparty was posted to the web, Chris had his own site named "The
Life of Chris." Also John was running his own site entitled "John (Super Stud) Parkinson." For about a year and a half
Chris and John would compete with each other. They would put their web-design skills to the test trying only to out do one
another. Finally they reached a stalemate. Neither of them could overthrow the other.
It was the summer of 2002 and
teens in the small town of Canton, IL wanted somewhere to hang out. The Old people in the town had just recently voted a huge
water-park down. However, Chris and John had an idea of their own. Since no water-park was coming, they were flat out bored
and so was the rest of the town. They agreed to merge their websites together. Thus cjparty was born.
Many have asked,
"So how did it come to be called cjparty and not jcparty?" Some say that they settled it over a game of Ping Pong (some say
best 2 out of 3 while others say best 3 out of 5). Rumors also have been brought up that it was a video game that settled
the dispute while some just believe that "jcparty" looked to close to "JCPenney's". No matter how the name was originated,
cjparty was to become something that neither Chris or John would ever imagine.
When it all started that summer of
'02, the website's URL was http://www.cjparty.tripod.com. After the site started to gain popularity the need for an independent
domain became critical. So Chris and John bought the site www.cjparty.com.
After the site became popular it started
to expand. At one time the site was averaging over 100 hits a day. Not bad for a site that's not selling anything. However
the demand for cjparty.com t-shirts was so overwhelming that they were created and sold to people all around the area. Now
cjparty has an online store which offers much more than just shirts.
CJParty.com is now working on it's 3rd year of
operation. Although Chris and John sometimes become busy with their active lives and the site will occasionally collect dust,
it still serves it's purpose to the fullest. To give teenagers somewhere to go when they are bored and a place to have some
fun. And the Rest... is history...
